Good people in Key Positions

In Blog 93 I talked about our Team Building movie. In this blog I wanted to talk about putting good people in key positions

Danny turned out to be a good hire. I knew this because other sales people were complaining about him. He wasn’t doing anything wrong, he was just really good at selling. He also didn’t just stand around, he was always moving and approaching people right away. He would come up to me and ask “should I wait to see if anybody else approaches first?” No just keep doing what your doing but be fair about it.

He easily made pacesetter at the end of the year. In fact we had 9 total pacesetters which was incredible. We had really great salespeople, Candice was doing a great job as my First asst. and Cynthia was doing a great job developing our active business.

One day Cynthia came to me and said “ Kid’s has an opening and I want to apply. Kid’s? She was pretty passionate about it, so I supported her. Afterall she was doing a great job and if her passion was more on the kid’s side I totally get it.

Asst. Change

So I approached Aaron with the opportunity. “I don’t know Mike , I’m just a roofer from Wisconsin”. He was so humble. “Yeah but now you’re going to be a 2nd Asst. at Nordstrom”. He took the job. He was great, he knew the ins and outs of the backroom, and was learning the business as a whole rather quickly. Just need to coach him on how to manage people and we are good.

Clerical Change

My long time Clerical left Nordstrom too. She was my lifeline. Ginger was an amazing person too. She was and still is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. So I interviewed Jamie and she seemed to fit in right away. So I hired her. She was great, it was almost like she could read my mind on what I was trying to do.

It’s great when you have good people in key positions  in your department.
